I am a twenty-something from St. Paul, Minnesota, who recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication, with a minor in Integrated Liberal Studies. This blog highlights my love of traveling and the outdoors.
During the summer of 2013 I had a ten-week internship with Americorps and the Student Conservation Association at the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve in Copper Center, Alaska. During the spring semester of 2015 I studied at the National University of Ireland-Galway. From September 2016 until December 2o16 I backpacked around New Zealand.
In addition to writing about my adventures in new places, I also have a deep love for music. I wrote weekly album reviews for my university’s newspaper, The Daily Cardinal, as well as a music magazine, EMMIE. One day I hope to write for Rolling Stone Magazine or National Geographic. I play a little saxophone and even less guitar, but I’m working on that! I played competitive Ultimate Frisbee for three years. The three summers prior to working in Alaska I worked in other National Parks such as the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania, Seedskadee Wildlife Refuge in Wyoming, and Great Sand Dune National Park in Colorado.
