I am a twenty-something from St. Paul, Minn., with a degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. These days, I report on local government for The Daily News in Longview, Wash. This blog highlights my love of traveling and the outdoors.
During the summer of 2013, I interned for ten weeks with Americorps and the Student Conservation Association at the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve in Copper Center, Alaska. I studied abroad during the spring semester of 2015 at the National University of Ireland-Galway. From September 2016 until December 2016 I backpacked around New Zealand. Then, in 2017, I visited my older brother at his Peace Corps station in Togo, West Africa.
In addition to writing about my adventures in new places, I also have a deep love for music. I play a little saxophone and even less guitar. I also played competitive Ultimate Frisbee for three years. The three summers prior to working in Alaska, I worked in other National Parks such as the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania, Seedskadee Wildlife Refuge in Wyoming, and Great Sand Dune National Park in Colorado.
